Family Ministry

Our vision:
At New Life Church, we want to help parents to ‘Ignite’ their kids to impact the world around them.

Sunday Mornings

First Time?

When you first arrive at New Life whether it’s for the 9.15am or 11.15am service, you will be welcomed at the door and directed to our Family Registration Hub.  We will explain the registration process, help you register your children and young people for their age-appropriate groups, and give you direction to their group location.

Our children and youth groups are:

  • Kindlers (1 ½ -3 ½ year olds)

  • Sparks (3 ½ - End of Reception)

  • Detonate (School years 1-3)

  • Inferno (Schools Year 4-6)

  • 3D Youth (Schools Year 7-13)

For children from 18 months to school year 6, you will receive:

  • A name sticker for them to wear, which also alerts us to any allergies etc.

  • A room sticker to bring to enter the group (this is so we have an actual record of who is in the room for fire purposes).

  • A (unique to your child/family) pick-up sticker, so we can ensure your child is reunited with you safely at the end of the service.  (This code will also be used in the auditorium if we need you to return to your child’s group for any reason).

Once you have registered, you can enjoy some family worship together for the first 15 mins before the children and youth go to their groups.

Please note: our registration area closes at 9.30 and 11.30am once the service has started to ensure we are providing a safe and secure environment, can allocate resources effectively and to honor the team as they engage and teach the children and young people. So don’t forget to register in time.

Services & Information

  • Our children groups range from 18 months to school years 6 and our youth group goes from school years 7 to 13.

We plan a range of fun and engaging activities using stories, games, activities, worship, prayer and quiet encountering time. Our aim is to help the children to learn and grow in their faith, and to actively hear from God. We encourage them to step out and share what he is saying to those around them.

  • If you have a baby or toddler that’s not quite ready for a group, you are very welcome to visit our Family Room.  It’s a lovely, relaxed space where you and your child can meet other parents and carers and their young ones, get support and build community.  We live stream the service so you can be part of what is going on. We also have a breast-feeding room upstairs, especially for mums, where you can also watch the service.

  • All spaces in groups are on a first-come, first-served basis.  We have recommended child-to-adult ratios in each group with a maximum limit of children that can attend depending on how much team we have.  Occasionally we may have to close registration to groups early, but we will do everything we can to avoid this happening.

  • New Life Church welcomes all children and young people with additional needs.  Please speak to one of our team so we can work with you to best meet their unique needs and together provide the extra support that they need.

Mid-week Groups

Each term we run various mid-week groups for our kids and young people – here are our regular ones.

  • For those in school years 3-6

This is on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month (term-time only) from 6.30-8pm at The Ridgeway Centre.  It is a fun, social event where the children can build relationships with others and invite their friends to come with them.

  • For those in school years 3-6

This is each Wednesday 5-6pm on zoom.  It is a discipleship group that helps them to engage with God and reach out to their friends

  • For those in school years 7-13

Every Friday (term-time only) from 7-9pm.  This is a fun space to meet up with friends and invite others. It is both time to chill and to have open discussions about questions and big topics facing young people today.

Other Kids, Youth and Family Events

Throughout the year we provide a space for our kids, youth and families to have time together, to build connections and support one another, and to have opportunities to invite others. Here are some of the regular events we run through the year.

Serving on team

Serving on team

Ignite! Kids

We are looking for friendly, welcoming and caring people who want to help children move on in their relationship with God and help to equip them to impact their world for God.

Opportunities

  1. Ignite Under 5/Over 5 team member – one Sunday per month.

Role - helping children to connect with God and with one another. Whether it’s setting up toys, providing snacks, chatting through some questions with a group of children, we have fun as we worship God together and learn more about Him and how much He loves us.

  2. Ignite Support team member – one Sunday per month.
Role – supporting the Ignite team by welcoming new visitors and the registration of the children and families, the setting up of tech equipment in our groups or making the family room a comfortable and welcoming place for those with young families and especially visitors. These are great for those who love meeting new people and chatting with families as they arrive or those who are technically-minded.

3D Youth

We are blessed to have a large number of youth in our church family. Sunday mornings provide an opportunity for them to meet together to grow in their faith and to develop their gifting.

Join the team

We are looking for people who are enthusiastic about young people and their faith journey. Key skills are commitment and being team-focused and flexible. We are also interested in people wanting to develop leadership skills.
