Serving

We believe that God has given us a vision for multiplication. This is reflected in three main ways:

Multiplying disciples – we have developed a discipleship pathway that we hope will equip and enable everyone to become disciples who make disciples.

Multiplying mission – we are actively involved in serving the poor in our city and we are working into an increasing number of nations by investing in churches and charities demonstrating the gospel to the communities around them.

Multiplying ministry – we have been blessed with significant growth in the number of people coming to our in-person services, and we responded to this by going multi-service.

We hold two services each Sunday. The first will start with worship at 9.15am and the second at 11.15am, with 30 minutes of community time over coffee starting at 10.45am.

Running two services provides many opportunities for people to get involved in serving across a variety of teams and ministries. Below you can find information on our teams, the skills that fit well with each of them, and express an interest in an area of serving.

Do take a look and pray about what part you might play in our exciting adventure with God together.

3D Youth

We are blessed to have a large number of youth in our church family. Sunday mornings provide an opportunity for them to meet together to grow in their faith and to develop their gifting.

Join the team

We are looking for people who are enthusiastic about young people and their faith journey. Key skills are commitment and being team-focused and flexible. We are also interested in people wanting to develop leadership skills.

Opportunities

  1. Sunday Team

  2. Youth Worship Team

Gospel Response

We are looking for those who have a heart for people, have creative ideas, who want to learn how to present and communicate the gospel in a short time frame. You will be someone who is willing to learn, ready to hear from God and has faith that God will use them. Must be aged between 10 and 92. Any sex and any ethnicity.

Opportunities

Opportunities

  1. Ignite Under 5/Over 5 team member – one Sunday per month.

Role - helping children to connect with God and with one another. Whether it’s setting up toys, providing snacks, chatting through some questions with a small group of children, we have fun as we worship God together and learn more about Him and how much He loves us.

  2. Ignite Support team member – one Sunday per month.
Role – supporting the Ignite team by welcoming new visitors and the registration of the children and families, the setting up of tech equipment in our groups or making the family room a comfortable and welcoming place for those with young families and especially visitors. These are great for those who love meeting new people and chatting with families as they arrive or those who are technically-minded.

Logistics

If you enjoy making those vital things happen behind the scenes, then joining our Logistics Team on a Sunday morning could be just the place for you to help out and serve. We aim to have enough people on the rota, so each one only needs to serving once each month.

Our task-focused team will work closely together providing support in a number of areas to other teams to ensure that they’re able to run smoothly.

Opportunities

  1. Set up – ensuring certain practical aspects (eg equipment and signage) is in place before people start to arrive.

  2. Car park - providing a smiling, welcoming presence in the car park (come rain or shine) to ensure a safe environment for vehicles and people coming or going from the church.

  3. Fire Marshal – providing Fire Marshal cover in the (hopefully, unlikely) event of an alarm or incident.

  4. Re-setting or breaking down - ensuring the auditorium is ready for the next service or left in a good way for those coming to use the building during the week (includes a degree of tidying up).

The key aspects with this role involve arriving early enough to be setting things up beforehand, monitoring and supporting during the meeting, and then breaking down or re-setting at the end.  If you think you can help us, we look forward to hearing from you.

On-stage hosting

The service host and prophetic hosts are key roles in leading our Sunday congregations into deep encounters with Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit. Our hosting teams partner with each other to follow the leading of Holy Spirit in prophesying, discipling and communicating to the congregation each Sunday. In the time we are a gathered community together on Sundays, we want to see people transformed to make a kingdom impact in their communities throughout the week.

If you’re personally pursuing Jesus daily, are passionate about leading people to meet with God, hear from him through prophecy, want to encourage people on a corporate level, and feel you are a good communicator, then we’d love to hear from you.

Once you have flagged your interest in the role, we’ll have a chat to you personally. If we feel you’ll be a good fit for the team we’d love to buddy you up with our existing team for a few Sundays to develop into the role from behind the scenes before being straight up on stage.

Opportunities

  1. Prophetic Host – hearing from God for our service, fielding prophetic words and pictures from the congregation and working alongside the meeting host to determine where the Holy Spirit is leading. Sometimes sharing corporate encouragements and ministry from the stage.

  2. Service Host – working with the prophetic host and worship leader to take the congregation through the service following the leading of the Holy Spirit, communicating notices and church communications, and leading through times of ministry from the stage.

  3. Baptism Host - you will play a vital role in the discipleship journey of those being baptised, help their understanding of what to expect on the day leading up to their baptism and how they can continue their journey.

Prayer Ministry

We believe prayer is a foundational part of our worship and ministry here at New Life Church. It is a privilege to follow the leading of Holy Spirit in prophesying, discipling and loving those in our community. We have seen and have faith that we will continue to see lives transformed through the power of God. The Prayer Minister Team here at New Life Church is set up to partner with God’s work in this way.

If you love God, love people and love to see them released into all that God has for them then the Prayer Ministry Team could be for you!

    • Using your creativity to suggest new ways of displaying things without losing clarity of communication.

  3. Stage manager – the opportunity to learn about technical equipment and provide invaluable support to the whole Worship and Production Team, without having to serve during a service. This is a good first step into the Production Team if you have no knowledge but would love to learn. You will be responsible for the presentation of the stage including:

    • Setting up hardware like mic stands and music stands

    • Running cables for microphones and instruments

Or, if you prefer being more behind the scenes, then preparing and serving our refreshments might be right up your street. If you want to serve in the area of hospitality and be a warm, friendly face while serving up a hot beverage, then we have the perfect role for you here too.

Once you have flagged your interest in the role, you will be asked to fill in an application form. If your form suggests you might be a good fit for the team, you will be invited for an audition with our house band where we will listen to you play/sing and decide whether to invite you onto the team.

Opportunities

This includes being sensitive to where the worship leader and the Spirit are leading, the ability to play to a click track, and attendance at rehearsals and team nights.

  2. Worship vocalists – leading the congregation in worship by providing strong melody and harmony lines that complement the worship leader and other backing vocalists, whilst worshipping in a way that enables and encourages worship from the congregation, without being distracting. (You must be able to sing harmonies by ear). Attendance at rehearsals and team nights are included in this role.
