Saturday 8th September 2018 was a thrilling day for us as we celebrated our 40th anniversary with a celebratory dinner and service.
Guests of honour included the church’s founder Alan Silver and his wife Ruth, who now live in Wales. The church has grown enormously since Alan started it up in a small building in Silver Street, Newport Pagnell in September 1978. Alan commented that the size of this first meeting place is smaller than any of the meeting rooms at the church’s current Wolverton Mill Site.

Also at the celebration were Paul and Jean Woodward. Paul jointly led the church for a number of years when it was based in New Bradwell. Paul said ‘It is thrilling to see how the church has gone from strength to strength, and particularly the way it is serving the city through projects such as free Speaking English classes, support of the Winter Night Shelter and Foodbank, and much more.’
These days the church gathers over 500 people every Sunday at two sites: The Ridgeway Centre in Wolverton Mill South and World Vision House in Fox Milne. Its congregation includes people from more than 30 nations, and all ages, including a large number in their 20s and early 30s.
Richard Wightman, Senior Leader, says ‘ Our vision is to be a community that love God and love people. Celebrating 40 years was a great milestone, and we are grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey so far. We look forward to the future with anticipation. Our heart is to serve the city of Milton Keynes, loving all who live here and being part of it being the city of dreams!’
